The Priorat. A region where today boasts more than 100 wineries producing premium wines, world-renowned that can be found in the menus of the best restaurants in the world. However, only 30 years ago, there were no more than 4 wineries producing table wine. Eight centuries of wine production were on the verge of extinction. Young pleople fled in search of work. The Priorat was one of the most depressed regions of Catalonia. How is it possible such a radical transformation?

They are known as The Magnificent Five. A handful of pioneers who arrived in to the Priorat in the early 1980s. The people of the region suspected of the intentions of this bunch of hippies, but the magnificent five were able to bring to the table the talent and perseverance while local people brought the hard work and tenacity that maintained the vine cultivation despite the decline in the region.

This is the story of The Magnificent Five and People of the Priorat. How together converted a depressed land in one of Spain’s and world’s most vibrant wine regions, which found the future recovering its past.
